Yesterday while walking my dog in the park nearby I overtook a little old lady. She muttered something and I slowed down to listen to what she was saying. `A storm is brewing far away', she said ,`don't be out too long.'
I asked her how she knew that. She pointed to the sky.`Look at the color', she said. Then she pulled out a tiny handkerchief. It fluttered in the wind.`The wind is stronger now', she went on. I forgot all about my walk and listened to the little walking-talking weather station in wonder. She mentioned half a dozen signs she had picked up. I had noticed just two.
`See, the earthworms ..' she started again, then halted and said with a twinkle in her eyes,` Surprised how I know so much? We didn't have the idiot box (tv) back then, nor the weather forecaster. We had to learn everything. I can teach you.'
